Getting ready for the Karaoke World Championships 2008

The Karaoke World Championship 2008 is more than just an amateur singing contest. This year’s event is spread over three nights and it is hoped it will provide the opportunity for everyone to be a part of the action. Sing and dance the night away at three public karaoke restaurants – with three categories of karaoke to choose from – pop, classics and heavy-rock.

Originating in Finland in 2003 with seven countries, the Karaoke World Championships are now an international karaoke competition, featuring nearly 30 countries worldwide in last year’s event. The Karaoke World Championship 2008 event returns to Finland. The three day contest will be held 23rd – 25th October, 2008 in Lahti Hall.

How to participate – Entrants in the Karaoke World Championships are required to go through national trials within their own country. Karaoke World Championship Organization grants licenses to parties that meet the criteria as a Karaoke World Championship Country Host. All participating Karaoke World Championship countries and their organization information will be published soon.

Start Preparing – Now is a great time to practise your singing skills with a Karaoke Machine in your own home. Vocopro is a leading manufacture of Karaoke machines, from the very simple DVD based karaoke player right up to the professional systems found in the best Karaoke bars and clubs throughout America and Europe.

When the World Champion candidates for each country have been chosen, they will receive a trip to Finland to compete in the World Finals at Lahti Hall. These finalists will perform onstage before an international audience and judges with their abilities put to the test against the other competitors. In April 2007, the 3rd place contestant at the Karaoke World Champion 2005, Ari Koivunen, later went to win Idols, the Finnish version of the UK hit, Pop Idol.
